Why Visit Banaue?

Banaue is not the Philippines most tourists imagine — there are no beaches, no dive sites, no nightlife. Instead, there are 2,000-year-old rice terraces carved by hand into the mountains by the Ifugao people, UNESCO-listed and considered among humanity's greatest engineering feats. Banaue is about mountains, culture, rice, and one of the most spectacular views on earth.

The main village of Banaue sits on a mountainside overlooking the famous rice terraces. From here, hiking trails lead deep into the mountains, through traditional Ifugao villages where life has changed little in centuries. This is one of the world's most authentic cultural experiences.

💡 Best time:Mejor época: October–May is dry and clear. June–September is rainy, sometimes with landslide risk. March–April has rice terraces flooded with water (most photogenic). December–January can have fog.
